Question 1

Drive not detected after a Windows upgrade or BIOS change?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA/IDE mode in BIOS (AHCI vs. IDE/legacy) and reseat the cable/jumper. In Device Manager, uninstall the CD/DVD entry, then rescan hardware and let Windows load its native optical driver.

Question 2

Install fails or device shows Code 39/19?

Accepted Answer

Remove third-party burning software or virtual-drive filter drivers, run the installer as administrator, and confirm any Optiarc firmware/package matches the AD-7260S and your Windows version.

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate entries?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Optiarc/generic CD-ROM drivers, delete duplicate devices, and reboot. Avoid forcing newer drivers—Windows’ inbox DVD/CD-ROM driver is usually sufficient for this ATA DVD writer.
