Name: Motorola SURFboard SB5120 USB Cable Modem Driver
Author: Motorola

Question 1

Install fails on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

The SB5120 USB driver is legacy and may be unsigned. Try Compatibility Mode for XP/2000, or use the modem’s Ethernet port; only disable driver signature enforcement if you trust the package.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the modem is powered, coax is connected, and the online LED is solid. Try a different USB port/cable (rear ports, no hub), power-cycle the modem, then rescan Device Manager.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Motorola/SURFboard USB drivers and remove unknown or duplicate modem entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install one package. Prefer Ethernet if USB still conflicts.
