The Epson WF 3640 Series driver enables Windows to communicate with your printer, helping it process print jobs and apply the settings you choose. Install the appropriate Epson package for Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7 to access printer controls and avoid relying solely on basic Windows printing support.
Key Features
- Print quality and paper controls: Adjust settings such as paper size, media type, orientation, and print quality to suit everyday documents or more detailed output.
- Two-sided printing options: Configure automatic duplex printing for supported paper types to reduce paper use when printing longer documents.
- Connection support: Set up printing over USB or a compatible network connection, depending on your selected driver package and printer configuration.
- Status and maintenance access: Compatible Epson software can display printer status and provide maintenance tools, such as nozzle checks and printhead cleaning. Available utilities vary by package.
How to Install
- Check your Windows version. Open your PC’s system information and confirm whether you use Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7. Also check whether your installation is 32-bit or 64-bit, then select an Epson WF 3640 Series driver that matches.
- Download the appropriate package. Choose the printer driver for printing functions. If you also need scanning, check whether the package includes scanner software or whether a separate download is required.
- Prepare the printer. Turn it on and clear any errors shown on its display. For network installation, connect the printer and computer to the same local network. For USB setup, leave the cable disconnected until the installer requests it.
- Run the installer. Open the downloaded file, approve the Windows permission prompt, and follow the setup instructions. Select your connection method and choose the correct printer when prompted.
- Verify the installation. Print a test page from Windows printer settings. Check that paper size and duplex preferences are correct, and restart the computer if the installer asks you to.
If Windows cannot find the Epson printer, check the USB cable or network connection before repeating setup. On computers with several printer entries, make sure your application is sending jobs to the newly installed Epson WF 3640 Series queue.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Install fails or stalls: Disconnect the WF-3640, run the Epson driver installer as administrator, and temporarily pause antivirus/firewall. Remove any partial Epson install from Settings > Apps before retrying with the full Windows package.
- Device not detected: For USB, use a direct port and known-good cable, not a hub. For Wi-Fi, confirm the PC and WF-3640 are on the same 2.4 GHz network (the WF-3640 does not support 5 GHz), then rerun Epson Net Setup.
- Version conflicts or duplicate queues: Uninstall older Epson WF-3640 drivers and Epson Scan/Event Manager, restart, then install the latest package. Remove stale WF-3640 queues in Settings > Printers & scanners.
