Blackmagic Design DeckLink Driver
Download for Windows — free, fast, always up-to-date
The Blackmagic Design DeckLink driver enables Windows to communicate with your DeckLink video capture and playback hardware. Installed through Blackmagic Design’s Desktop Video software, it provides the components needed for supported applications to use the card’s video and audio inputs and outputs. For Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, choose a release that explicitly supports both your operating system and your specific DeckLink model.
Key Features
- Video capture and playback: Allows compatible software to receive footage from external sources and send video to supported monitors or recording equipment.
- Model-specific connection support: Enables the SDI, HDMI, or other interfaces available on your DeckLink card, with supported resolutions and frame rates determined by the hardware.
- Video and audio integration: Provides access to supported audio channels alongside video, helping compatible applications handle capture and output workflows.
- Hardware configuration tools: Includes Desktop Video utilities for checking device recognition and adjusting available input, output, and format settings.
How to Install
- Confirm your hardware and Windows version. Identify the exact DeckLink model and check whether you are running Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7. Older operating systems may require an earlier Desktop Video release rather than the latest package.
- Download a compatible driver package. Check the release notes for operating system support, supported hardware, and any application compatibility requirements before proceeding.
- Prepare the computer. Close video editing, streaming, and capture applications. If the card is not yet installed, shut down and disconnect power before fitting it into a suitable PCIe slot according to the hardware instructions.
- Run the installer. Extract the download if necessary, launch the Desktop Video setup program, and follow the prompts. Approve Windows permission requests and restart the computer if instructed. If a device software update is offered, follow its instructions without interrupting power.
- Verify operation. Open Desktop Video Setup to check that the card is detected, then select the appropriate connections and video format where available. In your editing or capture application, choose DeckLink as the input or output device and test it with a compatible signal.
If the card is not detected, recheck package compatibility, PCIe seating, and the model’s system requirements. DeckLink hardware handles professional video input and output; its driver does not replace the display driver for your computer’s graphics card.
Common Issues and Fixes
- Installer fails or hangs: Quit Blackmagic apps and NLEs, run the Desktop Video installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, then reboot before opening Capture/Desktop Video Setup.
- DeckLink not detected: Reseat the PCIe card or check Thunderbolt cable/power, try another slot/port, and confirm the device appears in Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup. Update motherboard/Thunderbolt firmware if needed.
- Version conflicts: Uninstall older Desktop Video versions, remove leftover Blackmagic drivers, reboot, and install one matching release for all DeckLink devices. Avoid mixing beta and stable Desktop Video installs.
