How to Install

Newer releases may not support older Windows versions or legacy devices. Confirm that your computer has a compatible Thunderbolt connection; a USB-only port will not work.

1. Download the appropriate driver package. Select Blackmagic Design Desktop Video rather than a generic display driver. Review its compatibility notes before proceeding, especially if your system requires a Thunderbolt adapter.

1. Run the installer. Close capture applications, extract the downloaded package if necessary, and launch the installer with administrator permission. Follow the prompts to install the driver and related utilities.

Common Issues and Fixes

• Installer fails or stalls: Close Blackmagic apps and capture software, run the Desktop Video installer as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, then reboot. Install the driver before connecting the UltraStudio Mini Recorder.
• Device not detected: Use a known-good Thunderbolt cable and a supported Thunderbolt port. Approve the device in Windows Thunderbolt software, power-cycle the recorder, and check Desktop Video Setup; avoid USB-C adapters unless Thunderbolt-certified.
• Version conflicts: Uninstall older Desktop Video/Blackmagic software, reboot, and install the latest stable Desktop Video version compatible with your Windows release. Don’t mix beta and stable installs; let Desktop Video Setup apply any device firmware update.
