The Logitech M570 is a wireless thumb-operated trackball designed to keep your hand in one place while you move the pointer. Its driver enables Windows to recognize the device, while compatible Logitech software can provide additional controls for button assignments and pointer behavior.
Key Features
- Trackball input support: Enables pointer movement, clicking, and scroll-wheel operation through the M570’s USB receiver.
- Button customization: Compatible Logitech software lets you assign supported buttons to useful actions, such as navigating backward and forward.
- Pointer adjustments: Tune cursor speed through Windows settings or supported Logitech controls to suit your screen size and tracking preference.
- Wireless receiver pairing: Compatible Logitech Unifying software can help pair the trackball with a supported Unifying receiver if the connection needs to be restored.
How to Install
- Check your Windows version. Identify whether your computer runs Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7, and confirm whether it uses a 32-bit or 64-bit system where applicable. Choose a download explicitly listed as compatible with your setup; older Logitech utilities may not support every Windows version.
- Prepare the Logitech M570. Insert a working AA battery, switch the trackball on, and plug its Logitech Unifying USB receiver into an available USB port. The M570 uses its receiver rather than a direct Bluetooth connection.
- Allow Windows to detect the device. Windows will typically install a built-in input driver automatically, making basic pointing, clicking, and scrolling available without extra software. Move the trackball to check that the cursor responds.
- Install compatible Logitech software if needed. For customization beyond standard Windows mouse settings, run the appropriate Logitech installer and follow its prompts. Restart the computer if requested. Avoid installing a package intended for a different device or unsupported operating system.
- Test and adjust the controls. Confirm that the buttons and scroll wheel work, then set a comfortable pointer speed. If the trackball does not respond, check the battery and power switch, try another USB port, and use a compatible Unifying pairing utility if necessary.
For Windows 11 in particular, verify software compatibility before downloading a legacy Logitech package. Basic input may work through Windows even when older customization software is not supported.
