Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the ZTE installer as administrator, disconnect the modem first, remove old ZTE USB modem entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install again.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port/cable and check Device Manager for “ZTE Proprietary USB Modem” under Modems or Ports (COM & LPT). Reinstall the driver while the modem is connected.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous ZTE modem drivers and leftover COM ports, reboot, and use the driver package matching the modem’s hardware ID (often vendor ID `19D2`). Avoid mixing generic Windows modem drivers with ZTE proprietary ones.
