Author: ZTE

Question 1

Installer fails or stops midway?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing ZTE modem utility/drivers, reboot, then run the MG880 setup as administrator. If Windows blocks the driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, complete the install, and re-enable it.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct rear USB port and a known-good cable. In Device Manager, look for an unknown device or new COM port; update it manually by pointing to the MG880 driver folder. Confirm the SIM is seated and the modem is not stuck in storage mode.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older ZTE USB modem drivers and stale COM ports before installing the matching MG880 package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it with a generic modem driver, then reboot before reconnecting the dongle.
