Name: Zebra Z4M Plus (300dpi) Driver
Author: Zebra

Question 1

Install fails or stalls partway?

Accepted Answer

The ZDesigner install must run as Administrator. Before reinstalling, remove any existing Zebra entries in Print Management → Drivers and delete the printer queue — leftover Z4M Plus 300dpi entries block a clean install.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

The Z4M Plus is a parallel/serial (and optional USB) printer, so Windows won't auto-detect it. Create the port manually (LPT1, COM, or USB00x), then add the printer to that port. For USB-serial adapters, confirm the COM number in Device Manager matches the port you assigned.

Question 3

Version conflicts / wrong dpi?

Accepted Answer

Installing a 203dpi ZDesigner driver makes labels print at the wrong scale. Uninstall previous Zebra drivers, download the 300dpi-specific package, and set it as the default before configuring label size.
