Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Confirm you downloaded the Zebra GC420D driver, not the GC420T model. Run the installer as administrator, close other printer software, and reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the GC420D is powered on and in Ready mode. Connect USB directly to the PC, not through a hub, and try another port/cable. For serial models, verify the correct COM port and baud rate.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Zebra/ZDesigner drivers and stale GC420D printer queues in Print Management, reboot, then install the latest compatible driver. Avoid mixing 32-bit and 64-bit driver packages.
