Name: Z Tek USB Serial Converter Driver
Author: Z-Tek

Question 1

Install fails (Code 10/28/52)?

Accepted Answer

Run the Z-Tek installer as administrator and match it to your Windows version and architecture. If Windows blocks it, use the signed Z-Tek driver; only temporarily disable driver signature enforcement if instructed.

Question 2

Device not detected / no COM port?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT) or Other devices. Try another USB port and cable, avoid unpowered hubs, and reinstall the USB Serial Converter driver. Confirm the assigned COM port in your terminal software.

Question 3

Version conflicts / Code 31?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Prolific/FTDI/USB-serial drivers first: uninstall the device and select “Delete driver software,” reboot, then install the correct Z-Tek driver and recheck the COM port number.
