Author: Yamaha

Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the MOX6/MOX8 USB cable, close DAWs and MIDI utilities, then run the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver installer as administrator. Reboot before reconnecting the synth to its USB TO HOST port.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the MOX is connected to USB TO HOST, not USB TO DEVICE. Try a direct rear USB port and a known-good cable; avoid unpowered hubs. In your DAW or MIDI settings, select the Yamaha MOX6/MOX8 port.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Yamaha USB-MIDI/Steinberg driver entries in Programs and Features, reboot, and install the latest driver for your Windows version. Don’t mix legacy Yamaha USB-MIDI drivers with the Steinberg driver.
