Name: WinTV HVR 950q NTSC Capture Device Driver
Author: Hauppauge

Question 1

Driver install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the manufacturer’s WinTV HVR 950q setup as administrator, disconnect the USB tuner until prompted, and temporarily disable antivirus if it blocks the installer. Reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a rear USB 2.0 port directly on the PC, avoid unpowered hubs, and check Device Manager for unknown devices. Reconnect the HVR 950q after the driver is installed and allow Windows to finish enumerating the tuner.

Question 3

Version conflicts with older WinTV/Hauppauge drivers?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing WinTV software and driver entries in Device Manager, including hidden devices, then reboot. Install the correct HVR 950q package rather than a generic Windows driver; mismatched 32/64-bit or older WinTV versions can prevent NTSC capture from working.
