Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm BIOS/UEFI sees the WD5000AAKX. In Windows, open Disk Management and initialize/format the drive if it appears as unallocated.

Question 2

Driver install/update fails?

Accepted Answer

This SATA HDD does not use a standalone Western Digital driver. Install the motherboard/chipset AHCI or RAID driver from your PC vendor, run setup as administrator, and avoid forcing a generic storage driver.

Question 3

Version/mode conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Mismatched Intel RST/AHCI or RAID settings can cause boot errors or a missing drive. Keep the BIOS SATA mode consistent (AHCI for most users), roll back incompatible storage drivers, and reboot before retrying.
