Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

The WD2500D032 is a SATA hard drive and needs no separate WD driver. Check both SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the drive appears in BIOS/UEFI. If BIOS does not see it, replace cables/port or test the drive elsewhere.

Question 2

Install fails or shows “unknown device”?

Accepted Answer

Install the correct SATA/AHCI controller driver from your motherboard or PC manufacturer. Match the BIOS SATA mode (AHCI/RAID/IDE) to the Windows driver; mismatches cause setup to miss the drive.

Question 3

Version conflicts or missing drive letter?

Accepted Answer

Remove conflicting Intel RST/third-party storage drivers and use Windows’ inbox AHCI driver or a vendor-supported version. If visible in Disk Management but not Explorer, initialize/partition and assign a drive letter.
