Question 1

Setup fails or “driver not found”?

Accepted Answer

The WD2500BEVS is a SATA hard drive and normally uses Windows’ built-in AHCI/standard SATA driver. Don’t install a generic “WD driver” package; check Device Manager for unknown SATA controller entries and install the motherboard/chipset SATA driver instead.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm SATA data and power cables are fully seated, try another SATA port/cable, and check BIOS/UEFI that the port is enabled. In Windows, open Disk Management and initialize/assign a letter if the WD2500BEVS appears but has no volume.

Question 3

Version conflicts or unstable behavior?

Accepted Answer

Remove old third-party storage/filter drivers, roll back the SATA controller driver, and prefer the motherboard vendor’s AHCI driver. Avoid changing RAID/IDE/AHCI modes after Windows installation.
