Name: Western Digital WD10EADS Driver
Author: Western Digital

Question 1

Drive not detected in BIOS/Disk Management?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the port is enabled. For the WD10EADS, make sure the BIOS SATA mode matches the installed storage driver (AHCI vs. IDE/RAID); changing this mode after Windows installation can make the disk disappear.

Question 2

Install or enumeration fails?

Accepted Answer

Install the motherboard chipset/SATA controller driver first, especially if the WD10EADS is the boot or target disk. This HDD does not use a separate Western Digital driver—it relies on the OS and SATA controller driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or intermittent drops?

Accepted Answer

Remove conflicting Intel RST/AMD SATA or third-party storage drivers, reboot, then install the vendor-approved controller driver. Check SMART health with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and replace cables if the drive repeatedly disappears or times out.
