Name: VisionTek Radeon X1600PRO Driver
Author: VisionTek

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The X1600PRO needs legacy Catalyst drivers, not current Adrenalin. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode, disable antivirus temporarily, and use the last Catalyst release supporting Radeon X1000 series. If setup still fails, extract the package and install the INF via Device Manager.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the card in its PCIe/AGP slot, connect the monitor to the card rather than the motherboard, and check BIOS settings for primary display/PCIe. A yellow mark in Device Manager means a driver problem; no listing suggests slot, power, or card hardware issues.

Question 3

Version conflicts or instability?

Accepted Answer

Remove old AMD/NVIDIA drivers with DDU in Safe Mode, prevent Windows Update from replacing the legacy driver, then install the matching VisionTek/AMD Catalyst package. Do not mix newer Adrenalin drivers with this GPU.
