Question 1

Install fails or driver shows a warning in Device Manager?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any older Virtual Audio Cable version, reboot, then run the VAC 4 installer as administrator. If Windows blocks the driver, allow it in the security prompt and reboot before testing.

Question 2

Cable not detected in audio apps?

Accepted Answer

In Windows Sound settings, enable disabled/disconnected playback and recording devices, then confirm the Virtual Cable endpoints are visible. Set the app’s output to the cable’s playback endpoint and its input to the matching recording endpoint; keep sample rates consistent (e.g., 48 kHz).

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate cables?

Accepted Answer

Remove old VAC lines/devices in Device Manager and Sound settings, uninstall previous versions, and reinstall VAC 4. Avoid mixing VAC 4 with leftover VAC 3 or other virtual audio drivers; reboot after changes.
