Question 1

Install fails or INF is rejected?

Accepted Answer

Re-download the ViewSonic VX2262WM monitor INF, unblock the ZIP if Windows marked it, and install via Device Manager → Monitors → Update driver → Browse my computer. Run as administrator; don’t update the graphics adapter instead.

Question 2

Monitor not detected or stuck as Generic PnP?

Accepted Answer

Confirm power and input source, reseat the DVI/VGA cable, try another port/cable, then Device Manager → Action → Scan for hardware changes. The VX2262WM should expose its native 1680×1050 mode.

Question 3

Version conflict or duplicate monitor entries?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old ViewSonic/Generic PnP monitor entries in Device Manager, select “Delete the driver software,” reboot, then reinstall the correct VX2262WM INF. Avoid mixing other ViewSonic monitor drivers.
