Name: UMAX Astra 4000U Driver
Author: UMAX

Question 1

Installer fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Run the UMAX driver installer as Administrator and in Windows 7 compatibility mode. For older unsigned packages, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, then reinstall.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the Astra 4000U directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Check its power adapter and USB cable, then look in Device Manager for unknown USB devices; remove and rescan.

Question 3

Driver/TWAIN conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous UMAX, TWAIN, and WIA scanner entries, reboot, and install only one driver package. In your scanning app, explicitly select the UMAX TWAIN source rather than a generic WIA device.
