Author: UMAX

Question 1

Installer fails or is blocked on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

The Astra 3600 uses legacy UMAX drivers. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode; if Windows blocks the unsigned driver, use a signed package if available or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement during install.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the Astra 3600 has power and a known-good USB cable; connect directly to a rear USB port, not a hub. Check Device Manager for unknown/USB device entries and reinstall the UMAX driver before opening scanning software.

Question 3

Version/TWAIN conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older UMAX Astra or other scanner drivers and TWAIN entries first, reboot, then install only the 32-bit or 64-bit package matching your scanning app. Test with UMAX’s own utility before third-party software.
