Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the U.are.U 4500 driver package as administrator, temporarily disable antivirus, and confirm you downloaded the correct 32/64-bit version. Reboot and retry with the reader unplugged until the installer prompts for it.

Question 2

Reader not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct rear USB 2.0 port rather than a hub. In Device Manager, check “Biometric devices” for an unknown device; uninstall it, replug the reader, and rescan. Confirm fingerprint sign-in is enabled in Windows settings.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Windows Hello errors?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older DigitalPersona/U.are.U drivers and companion software, reboot, then install the current package. Avoid mixing vendor software and Windows Hello enrollment until the driver is confirmed working.
