Question 1

Setup fails or rolls back on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

Run the Montego II Quadzilla installer as administrator in Compatibility Mode for Windows XP SP3 or Windows 7. If setup still fails, use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse to the extracted INF files. Disconnect other audio devices first.

Question 2

Card not detected/no sound?

Accepted Answer

Power off, reseat the PCI card, and check Device Manager for an unknown multimedia device. Disable onboard audio in BIOS, install motherboard chipset drivers, and avoid PCI slots shared with conflicting cards.

Question 3

Version conflicts or BSOD after updating?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the old Turtle Beach/Aureal Vortex driver in Device Manager with “Delete the driver software,” reboot, then install the matching 32/64-bit Montego II Quadzilla package. Do not mix generic Windows Update audio drivers; create a restore point first.
