Name: TSSTcorp DVD ROM SH D162C ATA Device Driver
Author: TSST

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

This DVD-ROM usually relies on Windows’ built-in ATAPI/optical driver. If a TSST installer fails, run it as administrator or skip it and use Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives > Update driver > Browse > Let me pick > Microsoft.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA/PATA power and data cables, confirm BIOS detects the TSSTcorp SH-D162C, then scan for hardware changes in Device Manager. If listed with a warning, uninstall it and restart.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old third-party optical or virtual-drive filter drivers, roll back to the Microsoft driver, and avoid forcing a generic TSST driver. Reboot after changes.
