Name: TSSTcorp CDDVDW SH 224DB ATA Device Driver
Author: TSST

Question 1

Install fails or Device Manager shows Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the drive in Device Manager, reboot, and install the latest SATA/chipset driver from your motherboard vendor. Run any TSST installer as administrator; Windows’ generic CD/DVD driver is often sufficient for the SH-224DB.

Question 2

Drive not detected / no drive letter?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm the BIOS/UEFI detects the SH-224DB. In Windows, check Disk Management and Device Manager; reseat or replace a faulty cable.

Question 3

Version conflicts after a Windows update?

Accepted Answer

Remove old TSST/optical driver entries using Device Manager’s “Show hidden devices,” reboot, and let Windows reinstall the generic driver. Avoid stacking third-party driver updaters; update firmware only from official TSST/Samsung support for this exact model.
