Author: TSST

Question 1

Install fails or drive shows Code 28/39?

Accepted Answer

Windows usually supplies the generic CD/DVD driver. Run any TSST package as administrator, or skip it and let Windows install the drive. In Device Manager, uninstall the drive, then scan for hardware changes.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm BIOS/UEFI sees the SATA optical drive, check data and power cables, and try another SATA port. If the BIOS SATA mode was changed, restore the mode used when Windows was installed.

Question 3

Version/filter conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old optical-drive software and stale UpperFilters/LowerFilters entries, reboot, then reinstall only the current Windows-compatible driver. Avoid mixing multiple TSST/Samsung firmware or driver packages.
