Question 1

Install fails or Windows reports no compatible driver?

Accepted Answer

This DVD RW drive usually uses Windows’ built-in ATAPI/optical driver. Don’t force an incompatible TSST package; run Windows Update, then Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives > Update driver > Search automatically. If setup still fails, remove the device and rescan.

Question 2

Drive not detected/not listed?

Accepted Answer

Check SATA/power cable and BIOS/SATA mode; in Device Manager scan for hardware changes. If listed with a warning, uninstall it and restart so Windows reinstalls the ATAPI driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or error codes 19/31/32?

Accepted Answer

Remove old TSST/optical driver entries, restart, and let Windows load the inbox driver. Avoid third-party driver updaters; use official TSST firmware only if the model matches H653B.
