Name: TSST CDW DVD TS H492A ATA Device Driver
Author: TSST

Question 1

Install fails or Windows reports “best driver already installed”?

Accepted Answer

This DVD writer usually uses Windows’ built-in optical/ATA driver, not a separate TSST package. Remove any old TSST/Samsung installer, then uninstall the device in Device Manager and rescan; avoid forcing an incompatible installer.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check SATA power/data cables and BIOS SATA mode (AHCI/IDE). In Windows, verify the drive appears in Device Manager/Disk Management; remove stale UpperFilters/LowerFilters registry entries if the CD/DVD drive is missing.

Question 3

Version conflicts after updates?

Accepted Answer

Roll back the ATA/optical driver in Device Manager if the drive stops reading discs after a Windows update. Update TSST firmware only from the vendor for H492A, and uninstall third-party burning suites that install conflicting filter drivers.
