Question 1

Firmware/driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the utility matches the TSST SH-S203B, run it as administrator, close burning apps, and don’t force-flash if the drive isn’t detected. Optical drives normally use Windows’ built-in driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, verify BIOS detection, then use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes. Reseat the drive if it disappears after sleep.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate or old optical-drive entries in Device Manager, uninstall the device and reboot, and avoid generic third-party driver packs. Roll back only if a recent change caused the issue.
