Name: TSST CDDVDW SH 224DB ATA Device Driver
Author: TSST

Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the SH-224DB appears in BIOS/UEFI and has SATA power/data connected. In Device Manager, uninstall any CD/DVD entry, then scan for hardware changes. Try another SATA port/cable; avoid RAID/legacy modes that hide the optical drive.

Question 2

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

This drive normally uses Windows’ built-in CD/DVD-ROM driver. Don’t install unrelated Samsung/TSST packages; check OS/bitness, run setup as admin, and temporarily disable antivirus if a firmware utility is blocked.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old TSST/Samsung optical drivers or third-party burning suites that add filters. Reboot and let Windows reinstall the standard driver. Update firmware only from an official TSST/Samsung source, and only if the drive is detected.
