Question 1

Install fails (Code 10/28/31)?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the TSST drive in Device Manager, remove duplicate CD/DVD entries, reboot, and let Windows install its native optical-drive driver. Avoid forcing a package for a different TSST model.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm SATA/ATA power and data cables and that BIOS sees the SH-S182M. Try another port/cable, then scan for hardware changes. If it disappeared after burning/ripping software, check for optical filter drivers (UpperFilters/LowerFilters).

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Use Device Manager > Roll Back Driver if a generic update breaks burning/reading. Install firmware only for the exact SH-S182M; mismatched firmware can make the drive undetected. Windows’ standard CD/DVD driver is usually sufficient.
