Name: Tripp Lite USB to Serial port Driver
Author: Tripp Lite

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Tripp Lite installer as administrator, disconnect the USB-to-serial adapter first, temporarily disable antivirus, reboot, then install the driver before reconnecting the adapter.

Question 2

Device not detected / no COM port?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown device or missing Ports entry. Try another USB port and cable, avoid unpowered hubs, uninstall the device with “Delete driver software,” then reinstall the Tripp Lite driver and reconnect.

Question 3

Version conflicts / Code 10 or yellow warning?

Accepted Answer

Old Prolific/FTDI USB-to-serial drivers can conflict. Uninstall the existing adapter and driver, reboot, install the latest Tripp Lite package, then reconnect. If Windows reinstalls the wrong driver, update manually via Device Manager.
