Name: Tripp Lite USB to Serial Bridge Driver
Author: Tripp Lite

Question 1

Install fails or Windows blocks the driver?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the Tripp Lite adapter, run the installer as administrator, reboot, then plug the adapter in and let Windows finish installation. Approve any driver prompt.

Question 2

Device not detected / no COM port appears?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under “Ports” or “Other devices.” Try a different USB port and avoid unpowered hubs. Reconnect the DB9 serial device, then reinstall the Tripp Lite USB-to-serial driver if an unknown device remains.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts or changing COM port?

Accepted Answer

Remove old USB-to-serial drivers and hidden COM ports in Device Manager, then install the current Tripp Lite driver. If the COM number changes, open Ports > Properties > Advanced and assign a fixed COM port.
