Question 1

Driver install fails or shows Code 10/43?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing USB-serial/FTDI VCP driver and the Tripp Lite adapter in Device Manager (enable “Show hidden devices”), reboot, then install the current Tripp Lite driver as administrator.

Question 2

Device not detected / COM4 missing?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port and cable, then check Device Manager under Ports (COM & LPT). If the adapter has a warning icon, reinstall the driver; if COM4 is absent, use “Scan for hardware changes.”

Question 3

COM4 conflict or version mismatch?

Accepted Answer

Close software using COM4, remove duplicate/stale COM ports in Device Manager, and reassign the adapter to COM4 under Port Settings > Advanced. Avoid mixing old FTDI drivers with the current VCP package.
