Name: Thomson USB CDC Device Driver
Author: Thomson

Question 1

Install fails or Windows picks the wrong driver?

Accepted Answer

Open Device Manager, right-click the Thomson USB CDC device, and manually update the driver by browsing to the extracted manufacturer INF. If installation is blocked, verify the INF is digitally signed and matches the device’s VID/PID.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try a known-good USB data cable and a direct rear USB port, avoiding hubs. In Device Manager, check for “Unknown device” or “USB Serial Device”; uninstall it, rescan, and reinstall the Thomson CDC driver.

Question 3

Version or COM-port conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older CDC/virtual COM drivers and remove hidden devices. If the COM port is in use, assign a different port number in Device Manager, then reconnect the device.
