Question 1

Install fails or is blocked?

Accepted Answer

The IBM display INF is often unsigned/legacy. Run the installer as administrator, try Windows compatibility mode, or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement; then update the monitor via Device Manager > Have Disk.

Question 2

Device not detected/native 1600x1200 missing?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under Monitors for “Generic PnP Monitor.” Manually select the ThinkPad Display 1600x1200 INF. If 1600x1200 is still unavailable, update the graphics adapter driver as well.

Question 3

Version conflicts/Windows Update overwrites?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall prior IBM/ThinkPad monitor entries, reboot, and roll back if Windows substitutes a generic driver. Use Windows Update show/hide or policy to prevent automatic replacement.
