Name: ThinkPad Display 1280x768 Driver
Author: IBM

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as Administrator and set compatibility to the Windows version matching the ThinkPad model. Disconnect external monitors and use the OEM package for the IBM 1280x768 panel; generic Intel/ATI packages may reject the hardware ID.

Question 2

Device not detected or wrong resolution?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under Display adapters and Monitors for unknown devices. Rescan hardware, update the monitor driver from INF, and verify the internal panel is enabled (Fn+F7 on many ThinkPads). If only 1024x768 appears, remove conflicting display entries and reboot.

Question 3

Version conflicts after Windows Update?

Accepted Answer

Roll back to the IBM/OEM driver in Device Manager, then pause automatic driver updates. Avoid mixing Lenovo and IBM packages; uninstall old display drivers with the vendor uninstaller before reinstalling.
