Question 1

Installer fails on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

Run the IBM package as Administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode. If it still fails, extract the package and install the ThinkPad Display 1280x720 driver manually via Device Manager > Update driver > “Have Disk.”

Question 2

Display not detected or stuck at generic resolution?

Accepted Answer

In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes under Monitors and Display adapters. Reconnect the panel/external display, then update the IBM driver and reboot.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Windows Update overwrites the IBM driver?

Accepted Answer

Roll back via Device Manager > Driver, or uninstall the generic monitor driver and reinstall the IBM package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it, then confirm 1280x720 appears in Display settings.
