Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Use the Texas Instruments 1394 OHCI driver package matching Windows architecture; run as admin and temporarily disable antivirus. If setup still fails, install via Device Manager → Update driver → Browse → Let me pick → IEEE 1394 host controller, then reboot.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the PCIe/PCI slot or card power, reseat the card, and try another slot. Verify Device Manager shows no yellow mark under IEEE 1394. For laptops/docks, confirm the 1394 port is enabled in BIOS and not disabled by power settings.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old 1394 drivers and ghost devices in Device Manager (View → Show hidden devices), then install the TI package. Avoid mixing legacy OHCI and vendor stacks; use Windows’ signed 1394 OHCI driver if the TI package is unsigned or incompatible.
