Question 1

Install fails or drive shows as unknown?

Accepted Answer

Ensure the SCSI HBA driver is installed and the SDLT320 has a unique SCSI ID with proper termination. Run the installer as administrator; on newer Windows, use a signed Tandberg driver or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Rescan in Device Manager and check SCSI cables/terminator. The drive should appear under Tape drives, not as an unknown device. If using a RAID/HBA, enable IT/pass-through mode; SDLT320 requires a supported SCSI controller.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Backup software may install its own tape driver and conflict with the Windows tape class driver. Remove or update the backup agent, then reinstall the correct Tandberg/Windows driver; keep firmware and backup software compatible.
