Name: Synaptics HID TouchPad Driver
Author: Synaptics

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Synaptics HID TouchPad installer as administrator, close Synaptics control panel/apps first, then reboot and retry. If it still fails, uninstall the old touchpad driver in Device Manager, restart, and install again.

Question 2

TouchPad not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the touchpad is enabled in BIOS/UEFI and check Device Manager for hidden or unknown HID devices. Uninstall the affected HID/touchpad entry, restart, and let Windows redetect it.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing Synaptics or Windows Precision touchpad driver via Apps & Features and Device Manager (check “Delete the driver software”), reboot, then install only the matching OEM/generic package. Avoid mixing OEM and generic drivers.
