Question 1

Install fails or driver is unsigned?

Accepted Answer

On 64-bit Windows, the older Symbol INF may be blocked by driver signature enforcement. Use the vendor-signed package for your Windows version, run the installer as administrator, and avoid forcing an unsigned INF.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the Symbol device is in USB ActiveSync/RNDIS mode, use a data-capable USB cable and direct port, start ActiveSync/WMDC, and check Device Manager for unknown USB/RNDIS entries. Reconnect after clearing stale partnerships.

Question 3

Version conflicts/generic RNDIS takeover?

Accepted Answer

Windows may load its built-in RNDIS driver instead of the Symbol one. In Device Manager, update the driver and manually select the Symbol package, or uninstall existing RNDIS/Symbol entries and rescan. Roll back if a newer driver breaks sync.
