Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Use the package matching Windows version and 32/64-bit; run setup as administrator and reboot. If it still fails, uninstall older Symbol/Motorola/Zebra scanner drivers in Device Manager, then reinstall.

Question 2

Scanner not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port/cable, avoid unpowered hubs, and confirm the scanner is in the correct USB mode (HID keyboard wedge vs virtual COM). Check Device Manager for an unknown device or COM port; scan the manufacturer’s interface-reset/setup barcode if needed.

Question 3

Version/COM port conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate or hidden scanner entries, uninstall conflicting Symbol drivers, and assign a free COM port in Device Manager. Keep only one driver version installed and reconnect the scanner after changes.
