Question 1

Driver install fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator and stop the Windows Print Spooler service first. Disable antivirus temporarily, then reinstall the correct Star TSP100III driver—not the older TSP100/TSP100II package.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Power-cycle the printer and connect USB directly to the PC, not through a hub. For Ethernet models, confirm the printer’s IP address and that it is on the same subnet; for USB, try another port and cable.

Question 3

Version conflicts/duplicate printers?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Star TSP100-series drivers and any duplicate printer queues in Devices and Printers, restart the spooler, then install only the TSP100III driver. Set it as the default receipt printer to avoid POS software selecting a stale queue.
