Name: Star Micronics SP500 Driver
Author: Star Micronics

Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

The SP500 driver is legacy/unsigned on newer Windows. Run the installer as administrator, use compatibility mode for the supported Windows version, and allow the driver if prompted.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the SP500 is connected to the correct serial/parallel port and that the driver’s COM/LPT setting matches. For USB-to-serial adapters, verify the assigned COM port and test with the printer’s self-test.

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate queues?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Star Micronics drivers and duplicate SP500 printer queues before installing. Use Print Management or Star’s cleanup tool, reboot, then install the latest SP500 package.
