Name: SoundMAX Integrated Digital High Definition Audio Driver
Author: SoundMAX

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the SoundMAX setup as administrator in compatibility mode for Windows Vista/7. Remove any existing SoundMAX/ADI audio entries in Device Manager, reboot, then reinstall the OEM package that matches your motherboard’s audio codec.

Question 2

Device not detected / no audio?

Accepted Answer

Confirm HD Audio is enabled in BIOS, set the front panel to HD Audio rather than AC97, and check Device Manager for “SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio.” If missing, rescan hardware and ensure the Microsoft High Definition Audio bus driver is installed first.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Code 10?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall Realtek/other HD audio drivers and duplicate SoundMAX entries, then install only one SoundMAX version. If Windows Update replaced it, roll back the driver or use the generic Microsoft HD Audio driver until the correct OEM release is available.
