Question 1

Installer fails?

Run the SiS setup as Administrator in compatibility mode for the target Windows version. If it still exits, extract the package and manually update the SiS M760/760GX display adapter in Device Manager via Have Disk using the extracted INF.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Look for “Video Controller (VGA Compatible)” or unknown VGA in Device Manager and confirm the hardware ID matches SiS M760/760GX. Install the SiS chipset driver first, reboot, then install graphics; check BIOS for enabled integrated display.

Question 3

Version conflicts/black screen?

Accepted Answer

Roll back in Device Manager, or uninstall the SiS graphics driver with “Delete the driver software” checked, reboot, and install the correct legacy package. Prevent Windows Update from reinstalling a mismatched driver.
