Name: SiS 661FX Driver
Author: SiS

Question 1

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

SiS 661FX packages often reject newer Windows versions or need admin rights. Run setup as administrator in Compatibility Mode, or install the INF manually via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Integrated 661FX graphics can be hidden if onboard VGA is disabled in BIOS or the chipset driver is missing. Enable onboard VGA, install the SiS chipset driver first, then rescan for hardware changes.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows Update may replace the SiS driver with Microsoft Basic Display Adapter, causing low resolution or no acceleration. Roll back/uninstall the generic driver, reinstall the correct 661FX package, and block automatic driver updates.
