Name: SiS 6205 Video Card Driver
Author: SiS

Question 1

Install fails or driver is unsigned?

Accepted Answer

SiS 6205 drivers are legacy and often lack modern WHQL signatures. Extract the package and use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer. If `setup.exe` fails, run it in Compatibility Mode for the Windows version it targets (often XP/Vista/7), and match 32-bit/64-bit to Windows.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check BIOS for onboard/AGP/PCI video enabled and correct primary display; reseat the card if physical. Install the motherboard chipset driver first, then confirm a SiS display device with Hardware ID `VEN_1039` in Device Manager.

Question 3

Version conflicts or black screen after update?

Accepted Answer

Remove existing SiS/Windows Update display drivers in Device Manager (or DDU in safe mode), reboot, and install only one matching SiS 6205 package. Avoid mixing 32-bit/64-bit or XP-era INF files with newer Windows; roll back if needed.
